As part of the Steve's Hotel restoration and renovation in Nedlands, a pool and outdoor entertaining area was created for residents. WA Timber Decking supplied and installed the decking to complement the infinity edged pool and surrounding gardens.

The decking substrate was engineered to specific conditions to allow for slab movement, water proofing and car park conditions below the pool area.

The first step was to design a way that an extensive deck could incorporate the trees and the slope and still be structurally sound. We assisted with the design and arranged the engineer's consultation and drawing up of the Shire plans.

The old deck was removed and replaced with a 100sq/m deck that wrapped around the three large gum trees. Allowances were made for clearance around the frame work for future tree growth too. A covered pitched roof was added with a bamboo privacy screen and gate to accommodate a large hardwood table. The balustrade was completed with stainless steel cable with a stained handrail. This particular decking option was completed in 140mm wide Kapur secured with stainless steel screws. A cold beer in the tree tops… Not bad to come home to!

This property in Glen Forest is situated on a 35 degree slope. The original house deck was way too small to entertain friends but the proximity of three large gum trees made it seem impossible to make the deck any larger. On top of that the slope of the land placed the highest aspect of the deck at 3.6 m of the ground. - Project 6

We selected the contemporary look of the 130mm wide Jarrah decking to match the décor of the home. The decked area become an important link, being accessible from both the dining and kitchen areas as well the rear lane way. A timber facia along the water line of the pool added a stylish finish. To keep maintenance issue to a minimum all decking boards were secured with stainless steel screws. This property in South Fremantle is only a stone's throw from the centre of this sunny port city. However, due to the compact house block (280sq/m) the alfresco and pool deck wasn't going to get a lot of sun, possibly only 1.5 hours a day. It became important to avoid a cold stone area around the pool, so timber decking was selected as the best possible solution. - Project 5

What was now required was an extensive decking design that would bring all the elements together. The substrate for their decking was bolted to the rock as this was the only option. We used a combination of Jarrah post for the balustrade and wide 130mm x 19mm Jarrah for the deck. A stainless steel capping was installed to all hardwood posts for the perfect finish to the overall project. A combination of stainless steel wire and frameless glass fencing has kept the view out to the national park virtually uninterrupted. A truly amazing result with a stunning view as well! We felt privileged to be part of this sensitive project.

This site presented a wide variety of brilliant opportunities but also a number of building nightmares. The owners wanted to capture every aspect of the amazing national park views and retain a large boulder outcrop as a major feature of their outdoor leisure area.

A custom made pool was built over part of the boulders giving the client the opportunity to not only reclaim some of their back yard but also to build a stunning feature deck at opposite ends of the resort style pool. The pool substrate was built over the boulders in such a way to retain the view out to the natural park from the alfresco, living and kitchen areas.
